After dinner at 2 different cafes separated by only a common outdoor dining area, my manager took me on a small tour of part of the campus. During the tour, I was told that in reality, many of the scenes from The Internship weren't even filmed at Google. Take the slide scene for example. Or the wooden steps. Or the SpaceShipOne. That wasn't at Google. But I did see the SpaceShipOne that actually was at Google.
The SpaceShipOne is pretty big so even backing up as far as I could, I couldn't even get the whole thing in the shot.
I also saw the real Stan the T-Rex although I think it might have been the real thing in the movie too. There's an interesting story about the T-Rex's origins that I was told today.
Stan the T-Rex
Back when he was infested with pink flamingos
They also did have a giant slide, just not the one shown in the movie. And no, I did not get to slide down it just yet.
If I can, I'm going down this thing head first.
They also do have the colorful umbrellas and bicycles known as GBikes. I didn't try to ride one just yet either but it's pretty tempting.
Everything here is very colorful. The bikes look just like they do in the movie so I didn't take a picture.
Of course there's a lot more to see than what I saw on my short 30 minute tour. The campus consists of like 20 buildings. I can't wait to explore more tomorrow. Supposedly they even have a giant ball pit.
