I was welcomed back to my home office today after being at the headquarters for 2 weeks. First order of business after getting breakfast: check out the newly renovated second floor my friend was telling me about.
Breakfast of champions (no, they don't have bacon at 5BB)
While I was gone, the construction crew had finished working on making even more Google office space on the second floor. Now there are even more micro-kitchens, lots of cool decorations, and a couple new awesome relaxation spots.
That's right, chandeliers made out of skateboards where instead of wheels there are those energy efficient light bulbs. The wall behind it is all skateboard wheels.
I'm not quite sure what the overall theme of the floor is, but one major one I'm noticing is that it's about being on the move from skateboards to scooters and bikes. There are arrows on the floor looking like they're directing you somewhere. There are also several images that look different depending on which angle you view them of people on the move like a guy in a business suit on rollerblades checking his watch.
Don't believe me?
My favorite things on the floor though are the two almost identical relaxation spots. They're illuminated by strips of pretty blue light in the walls and have stairs leading up to nowhere next to what looks almost like a bunk bed.
I can't back up far enough to fit the whole thing in the shot
One even has a massage chair under the stairs, which I sat in for over half an hour. The beds are pretty comfy too but there's no service in the one I was sitting in. I guess it doesn't matter if you're just focused on getting your work done though or taking a nap.
My new hideaway for after hours
Today I finally heard back about my first CL and made all the necessary changes and sent it back off. I seem to be making good progress on my project.
I'm glad to be back although the temperatures aren't as nice as back in California. I miss the GBikes now that I know how to ride them but I'm happy to be able to scooter around the office again. I seem to have gotten better at scootering too now that I can ride a bike. I no longer seem to be two-wheel challenged anymore. Don't expect me to be getting on a motorcycle anytime soon though.
