I finally got more code checked into the codebase today right before heading out for the night. It's been frustrating since I felt like I was spinning my wheels for so long without cranking out any submitted changelists since I was back in Mountain View a month ago. The internship is officially halfway over but I don't feel like I have much submitted code to show for it. Then again I did have to learn C++ and how to actually develop code here before really getting started, but still....
Getting this particular chunk of code checked in means I'm technically done with one of the 3 parts of the project although I anticipate I'll have to make some possible design changes. Nevertheless it still works for now and if I've learned anything about programming in college, it's to get it working first, then try optimizing and improving it later. So now I've checked something major off my to-do list and I can move onto the next challenge.
My reaction on getting approval
I'm hoping to make some changes for the new quarter and the last half of the internship. To start, I happened to see a flyer in the elevator on my way to a late lunch for a course on getting optimal sleep. There are a lot of optional courses offered here as a way to help employees grow. I figured this was one meant for me as someone who doesn't feel like they ever have enough time for sleep and gets pretty poor sleep already. I signed up online to take both classes in the course. Hopefully I can take away something, especially as now I have the 2 upcoming conversion interviews looming on the horizon.
