Today was an adventure-filled day as I got to visit Chinatown and the One World Trade Center for the first time and eat lots of Asian food. First stop of the day was the Empire State Building to meet with a friend from back home, where we got something cold to drink at Starbucks since I felt like I was melting even though it wasn't actually that hot out. We would have gone to the top of the Empire State Building to see the view but the wait was supposedly 3 hours which is way too long.

So this year for some reason, the fireworks weren't on the Hudson (a resident of 20 years here was surprised on hearing this, meaning they were supposed to be on the Hudson). So rather than watching the show comfortably from Google's newest building 2 blocks over from mine which is practically right on the Hudson, I had to trek to the east side if I wanted a chance to see anything.

I got back from the office a little after 7 today... in the morning. Last night, hellbent on getting a bug fixed, I stayed overnight. To be clear, I don't get paid overtime and they encourage a work-life balance but I was too annoyed to leave.

Today was my first NYC Pride Parade, but the third parade that I've been in. Since the first 2 were in my hometown, needless to say the NYC one blew the others away.

The usual Googler crowd is chatting and getting coffee around 11 am in 5BB. I open the door and step into the cafe and, on cue, Ozzy yells, "ALL ABOARD!! HAHAHAHAHAHA" as "Crazy Train" starts playing on the speakers. I march up to the smoothie counter and order a crazy-looking pride smoothie of 5 different colors and leave to start another code-filled day-- highlight of the day. (The smoothie was actually not that great since it was a bit too chewy. I couldn't even really drink it through the straw after letting it melt and bit and mixing it up.)
